
Julie began her violin studies at the age of eight in South Australia with Alita Larsens. She then continued her studies with Beryl Kimber before moving to Canberra to study for a Bachelor of Music violin performance at the Canberra School of Music where she was taught by Charmian Gadd.
Julie has a wide range of experience playing as a violinist in orchestras. She has played in the Australian Youth Orchestra, Australian Opera and Ballet Orchestra, Canberra Symphony Orchestra, Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra and with the Australian Chamber Orchestra.
She has taught violin for many years and loves the singing ability of the violin. She continues to play violin in chamber groups.
In addition to her violin playing, Julie became director of the Julie Logan Music School in 2022. The school offers early childhood music tuition for children from 6 months – 8 years old. Julie also has a passion for choir directing and is currently the director of the children’s choir, Song Crew and an adult female choir, Mala-women in song. Julie is passionate about the power of music education in children’s lives and is delighted to be adjudicating at the Wollongong Eisteddfod.
