Antoinette Langshaw-Barnes

Trained as a dancer from an early age, in many styles of dance, including appearances with the Australian Ballet as a child guest artist, Antoinette went on to work all over the world, performing as a professional dancer, with major international artists. Professional performance credits included Jesus Christ Superstar (with Jon English, Trevor White and Marcia Hines), the Danny La Rue Australasian Tour, Norman Wisdom (Australia and New Zealand), P&O’s “Sea Princess” and the Mo Award winning Di Heaton Dancers. When she retired from professional performing, Antoinette continued her teaching career as a Dance Teacher, with her sister (Bernadette Langshaw-Clark). As a part of the Langshaw Dancity Teaching Faculty, Antoinette was involved in performances at the Sydney Opera House, Sydney Town Hall and many other prestigious venues. With a special interest in young students, Antoinette assisted them in preparing for RAD and ISTD exams and Eisteddfods. With two children (a boy and a girl) that both had lengthy dance careers themselves as professional dancers, this demonstrates how Antoinette has been successful in fostering young talent. Antoinette has maintained her interest and links to dancing through her children and other members of the family, throughout her life. Antoinette has returned to her first-love of dancing and now teaches and dances as part of a mature-age ladies dance company in Wollongong, Let Us Dance, which prepares its members to dance for fun, fitness and friendship. She is delighted to be invited to be an adjudicator at the Wollongong Eisteddfod.
