Kristie Thorne

Mrs. Kristie Thorne (nee Locke) is a highly qualified and experienced speech and drama teacher. Kristie runs the Encore Speech & Drama Studio in Bathurst NSW which opened in 2000 and has over 150 students enrolled in the studio. She teaches both in her private studio and at Scots All Saints College in Bathurst. She aims to help young people grow into confident speakers and provides an avenue for drama and acting. Kristie has gained both her Associate Teachers Diploma and Licentiate Teachers Diploma in 2000 and 2002 through the International Music Examinations Board with Honours. Kristie has been involved in speech and drama from the young age of 6. Kristie performed in many Eisteddfods during her youth and has a passion for speech and drama. Kristie prepares her students for various Eisteddfods all around the Central West and NSW as well as prepares them for annual speech and drama examinations. She also has a love for the sport of tennis and was very busy in her younger days competing in state and national titles all around Australia. At the age of 18, Kristie embarked on a tennis scholarship offer to St. Louis University USA and studied Bachelor of Business for 6 months in the States. She then moved back to her hometown of Bathurst, and completed her university degree Bachelor of Business (Marketing) at Charles Sturt University, Bathurst in 2003. Kristie is married to Graham, and has two children. Kristie has adjudicated many Eisteddfods, competitions, and facilitated and adjudicated a number of online competitions during lockdown period in 2020. Some Eisteddfods she has adjudicated at include the Speech and Drama sections in June 2015 & 2017 at Coffs Harbour Eisteddfod as well as the 2015, 2017, 2018 Castle Hill Festival of Drama, 2018/2019 CWA Public Speaking Regional competition and has also judged many public speaking competitions at schools around NSW. Kristie is also an experienced IMEB examiner and loves seeing students and children progress as young performers.
